Xerox Completes Acquisition of XMPie
Friday, 10 November, 2006 at 8:30 am | In Printing, Software | 4 CommentsXerox Corporation has completed the previously announced acquisition of XMPie for $54 million, a move that further strengthens the growing trend of personalized communications and cross-media marketing campaigns involving digital printing, e-mail and customized Web sites. XMPie will keep the company’s headquarters in New York and its research and development facility in Netanya, Israel. Its more than 60 employees now join Xerox. The all-cash purchase of XMPie by Xerox Corporation was completed on Nov. 9.
Sybase Completes Acquisition of Mobile 365
Thursday, 9 November, 2006 at 4:51 am | In Mobile Services, Software | Leave a CommentSybase, Inc., provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced that it completed the acquisition of Mobile 365, Inc. in an all-cash transaction valued at $417 million. Net of acquired cash, the transaction is valued at $397 million. Mobile 365 will now operate as Sybase 365, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Marty Beard, senior vice president of corporate development and marketing for Sybase, Inc., will lead the new subsidiary as president. The Sybase mFolio business will be integrated into Sybase 365 immediately, and certain assets of Sybase AvantGo will be integrated into Sybase 365 early in 2007.

Topio, a NetApp Strategic Partner, is highly regarded for its innovative software that helps customers replicate, recover, and protect data over any distance regardless of the underlying server or storage infrastructure. The combination of Topio software and NetApp proven data management solutions will enable enterprises to safely, reliably, and nondisruptively replicate their production data on any vendor system — including EMC, HP, or HDS — to any NetApp storage system.
Sony Ericsson to buy UIQ Technology AB

Following completion of the acquisition, UIQ Technology will operate as a separate business subsidiary of Sony Ericsson under its current management team. UIQ on Symbian OS will continue to be openly available, licensed on equal terms to all its licensees.
QAD Inc. Acquires FBO Systems, Inc.

Approximately 70% of the all-cash purchase price consideration will be paid within 90 days of the November 3, 2006 close date, with the remaining 30%, subject to certain performance criteria, expected to be paid over a three-year period. The total net purchase price is expected to be approximately $4 million. FBOS’ Chief Executive Officer and co-Founder, Bo Hagler, has been named Director of the Enterprise Asset Management Product Unit at QAD.
SPL – the second Oracle purchase in 2 days

SPL was purchased from private equity funds managed by GFI Energy Ventures LLC. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The day before Oracle anounced merging with ECM provider Stellent.

Oracle Buys ECM provider Stellent for $440 million

Oracle will host a media conference call on Monday, November 13, 2006, to outline its enterprise content management strategy.

HP Completes Tender Offer for Mercury Interactive and Expects to Complete Acquisition Within Several Days

HP today announced that it has completed its tender offer for Mercury Interactive Corp., one of the leader in Business Technology Optimization (BTO) software and services.
HP’s tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of Mercury expired at 
midnight, New York City time, on November 1, 2006. As of that time, approximately 85.7 million shares, representing approximately 96 percent of Mercury’s outstanding shares, were tendered and not withdrawn in the offer (including shares tendered by notice of guaranteed delivery). HP has accepted for payment all tendered shares.
The completion of the tender offer is the first step in HP’s two-step acquisition of Mercury. The second and final step, the merger of Mercury with an HP subsidiary, is expected to occur within the next several days.
Trimble Acquires XYZ Solutions to Enhance its Connected Construction Site Strategy with Interactive 3D Software

Trimble , provider of advanced positioning solutions (best known as GPS-based service provider) today announced that it has acquired privately-held XYZSolutions, Inc. in an all-cash transaction.
XYZSolutions provides real-time, interactive 3D intelligence software to manage the spatial aspects of a construction project. The software transforms data from various sources into actionable information that can be used in the decision making process to reduce rework and improve productivity for engineering and construction professionals.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Avamar – the 12th purchase of EMC during the year

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held Avamar Technologies, Inc., a fast-growing provider of enterprise-class data protection software featuring industry-leading data 
de-duplication technology. EMC will acquire the Irvine, California-based company in a cash transaction valued at approximately $165 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed within 30 days and is not expected to have a material impact on EMC’s revenue or EPS for 2006.
